Field Notes
SockMonkey is a free field guide to 150 places worth knowing. Each entry is researched and sourced, covering a place's geography, its history and the detail that makes it memorable, and each is hosted by Tally, an original globe-trotting sock monkey character who leaves a diary page, a short list and a keepsake from every stop. The site also has an interactive map of every place and a history of the sock monkey as an American folk-craft tradition. A daily guess-the-place game, Where's Tally?, is in testing and has not launched yet.
